Why you may need to wait

Every effort is made for cases to run on time. You may need to wait for a number of reasons, including:

  • earlier cases may take longer
  • some cases may be urgent
  • time required for court/tribunal staff and judicial officers or lawyers to discuss your case
  • you or other parties involved in the case may need to see a lawyer.

Please be patient and treat all staff with respect while you wait. Follow the information on the court schedule screen and/or speak with court or tribunal staff if you need help.

If required you can contact us before the day of your hearing to discuss your hearing time.

While you wait

You’re welcome to wait in the public waiting areas located throughout the building from ground floor to level 4. Visit the building map to find waiting areas near courtrooms and hearing rooms.

If you miss your hearing, your case may be delayed or your case may go ahead and a decision made without you.

Food and drink

There are water fountains on every floor, and vending machines are available. Visit the building map to find locations.

Leaving the building

You can leave the building for a short time if you need to. If you leave the building, please check with court staff on the progress of your case so you don't miss your hearing.

Please allow yourself at least 30 minutes to re-enter the building and go through the security screening process again.

If you intend to leave the building for a longer period of time, please inform court staff.
