Programs supporting Bendigo community

If you’re Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, support is available to help you. There are court staff who have plenty of experience working in our community – for our community.

Magistrates' Koori Court

The Magistrates’ Koori Court operates in a culturally safe way.

Aboriginal Elders or Respected Persons may give cultural advice to help the Magistrate make a judgement that is culturally appropriate and helps to reduce reoffending. You must choose to have your case heard in the Koori Court.

For more information, please ask to speak with our Koori Court Officer at Balak Services on level 1.
