Everyone has the right to feel safe.

You can apply to the Magistrates’ Court for an intervention order if you need protection from violence, harassment, stalking or threats.

There are two different types of intervention orders.

A family violence intervention order (FVIO) can protect you from family violence, which includes physical, emotional, sexual, or financial abuse by a family member or someone you have had an intimate relationship with.

A personal safety intervention order (PSIO) can protect you from stalking, harassment, or threats by someone that you don’t have a close personal relationship, like a friend, neighbour or acquaintance.

Our staff can help you:

  • apply for a family violence or personal safety intervention order
  • understand the court process and your options
  • get the support you need and refer you to specialist services.

Family violence support is located at Balak Services on level 1.
